Top 5 Meditation Apps

Meditation is a superb way to wind down after a stressful day.  It can help you transition from work to life at home, soothe a worried mind, and fall into a restful night’s sleep.  However, it can be tough to fit a new habit like this into a busy work schedule, and it can be even harder to stay consistent with a regular meditation practice. All of these apps are designed to help you integrate meditation into your everyday life, with features that make the habit simpler to adopt.

Calm

  • What is it? Touting 7 or 21-day meditation programs, Calm is a meditation app bursting with features.  The app tracks your usage and gives you total times, sessions,and streaks.  It may be best  known for its “Daily Calm”—a ten-minute meditation on varying topics each day, along with its “Sleep Stories”,  over 50 adult bedtime tales with the intent for soothing and promoting sleep.
  • Cost: Free version with limited features, $12.99 per month, $59.99 per year

Headspace

  • What is it? Users of this meditation app love Andy’s soothing voice and its many available features.  Headspace offers a beginner course for an easy  introduction to the practice of meditation, and it also offers a series of different focus areas like health, sports, relationships, and more.
  • Cost: Free version for ten days, $12.99 per month or $94.99 per year
  • Apple watch compatible

Buddhify

  • What is it? Buddhify offers over 80 meditation tracks for 14 unique activities including sleep, work, and difficult emotions.  It highlights meditations for the small moments in your life, showing you how to fit meditation anywhere into your busy schedule,  like when you’re traveling, spending time online, taking a work break, or heading off to sleep.
  • Cost: $4.99

Omvana

  • What is it? Omvana offers a full library of thousands of meditation tracks, ranging  from 3 to 60 minutes. It’s also packed with inspirational speeches, poetry, and calming binaural beats.  
  • Cost: Free version with limited features, cost per meditation
  • Apple watch compatible

Stop, Breathe & Think

  • What is it? Every time you open the app, it prompts you to check in with how you are feeling. From there, the app suggests guided meditation, or yoga and acupressure videos personalized for your current emotions. Users love the database of customizable meditations.
  • Cost: Free version with limited features, premium membership is $9.99 per month or $72 per year.
